School Choice

Statistics show that students are more likely to graduate from high school when parents are able to choose the education environment that works best for their family. Unfortunately our state is one of only a few other states that does not yet have this option available to parents. Dr. Porterfield believes in school choice, and is in favor of Educational Savings Accounts to allow parents to choose where to spend their tax dollars and start saving early for their children's future.

Economy

Instead of forcing people to choose between moving from their beloved home of WV in search of better jobs or living in poverty, Dr. Porterfield wants to provide rural communities with ideas for work opportunities that will allow southern West Virginians to provide for their families from the home they love, encouraging economic growth and development.
